Terrorism by noise. While not necessarily conducted for political objectives, the effects are quite similar.

1. Surprise
2. Intensity
3. Random
4. Violation of rights
5. Generate fear and anxiety

It is interesting that the psychological aspects are so similar. I have noted the same myself.

I prefer the term "audio rape," though. Traumatic events of various kinds cause the same results for the victim, as the book "Trauma and Recovery" so eloquently discussed in drawing similarities between soldiers with shell shock and victims of rape and sexual abuse.

Whether it's one big traumatic event or continual wearing away by continual noise assaults, it should be criminal. Noise assault is not yet considered criminal. To me, the noise forced on me is not a mere nuisance but takes over my life and prevents me going about my business freely.
